A cardy for me!

This pattern comes from knitty.com http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEff10/PATTmythos.php I thought I’d try something a little different (haha) and substitute the yarn for one I found at Spotlight which is a wool/cashmere blend.  Moda Vera is only 10% cashmere but I thought it would add just a little better drape to the finished garment and I was right.  I also decided to experiment a little with some embellishments and I crocheted a few flowers! (Apologies to Becci…don’t look too hard my friend yours are waaaay better xx)

The yarn was only $6.95 a ball and I think I went back to get a couple more balls ‘just in case’ for $4.95 during a sale! Bonus! All up, I think I used about 10 balls of 50g and 130m per ball and used my 5mm circular needle(s) which took it up one size from the size recommended on the wool band.  Again, I wanted the fabric to have a lovely drape. 

I’m getting a better brooch pin in the mail!  This will do for now to demonstrate how it goes together when you secure it with a brooch. This heart pin actually ‘belongs’ to another cardy I bought…..I’ll put it back there.  Somehow, most of my brooch collection seems to have found permanent ‘homes’ hence the need to get a special one for this garment.  Also, it was screaming out (in my mind) for something hand made and ‘artistic’ lol

The modern cloth nappy adventure continues…..

As this goes to press I have been ‘commissioned’ by Katarina at ‘Twinkle Lily’ Nappies to make my nappy covers for her nappies!  She asked me can you do 20-30 a month!  Wow! She wants to give me wool and pay me for my time too which is amazing!  I’m so excited.  I can’t wait to start!
